Have you ever wondered.........................

~When your life is filled with the desire to see the holiness in everyday life, something magical happens: ordinary life becomes extraordinary, and the very process of life begins to nourish the soul~By...Rabbi Harold Kushner

Have you ever thought about what a person with Alzheimer's is feeling. Do they feel as if they are a viable part of society or just a burden to their family. Have you ever explored how society sees them and why? Alzheimer's is a disease of slipping away. The person drifts further and further from reality and into their own world.

Watch the video and see what you think.............

I co-taught neuro and the other instructor had given the students the assisgnment of doing presentations on any disease process in the neuro system. Several chose Alzheimers and one student showed a part of a video by Robert Taylor. It was very powerful to see what he had to say and sad that he had to remind us to remember he was still a person. It is so important to treat everyone with dignity no matter what their capabilities are. Jo

I do not have sound so I watched part of the video. In the beginning I knew he was saying "old people" several times. What is interesting is that when I first saw the topic I thought we often treat the elderly as if they are not real or are irrelevent. I remind my students as I teach that each client they meet will have had a different story. Our stories matter even if we are the only one left that knows them. In the case of an Alzheimer's victim, we need to remember. My father in law recorded his mother singing old songs and telling stories; family and events, for when she could not any more. She still was, she just could not remember it any more.

Oh my, I was spell bound by this video. This certainly took me back to the days of caring for my mother who had Alzheimer's and Parkinsons. I echo everything he says and I wonder how many persons go undiagnosed and perhaps do without appropriate treatment...thank you for sharing
